We here at Rainbow Mice have decided that it is in our best interest to
cease the breeding of mice. We have some excellent mice here. Very
beautiful, charismatic creatures. The decision to discontinue their
lines has been an extremely difficult one. We've gone to many great
lengths to get set up, to adopt our foundation animals, and to raise
quality babies. Truth of the matter is mice are very different from
rats. That in itself we knew all along, and was a welcomed difference.
However, the pups take twice the amount of time and energy to keep tame
and friendly. That is a crucial difference right there.
Mice need to be kept tame and friendly. Rats from our lines are
born tame and friendly, and become even more social and personable as
they develop. We have come across several absolutely wonderful,
adorable, smart mice. But in the end we cannot justify spending more
time on our mouse program and seeing fewer results than we do our rat
program.
There are a lot of reasons behind our closing, but in the end that is
the most important one.

We feel there is a need for more responsible, reputable mouse breeders
that keep good records of their mice and lineage. We would like to be a
part of improving the mouse fancy along with other quality breeders in
our area.
While we deal a lot with breeders all over the country we are here to
selectively breed fantastic companions for the general public. It is
important to have a mouse that is not only happy and healthy but can be
handled as well. We are working on our lines to achieve several goals
but the most important one is to consistently produce tame, friendly
companions for everyone to enjoy.
We are currently maintaining a line of Blue & Dilute
Tricolors in Standard, Angora and Fuzzy Hairless. We would also like to
start separate lines of Blues, Siamese & Broken Marked Blacks
(affectionately referred to as 'moo mice'). This will all happen in
time but for now we are focused on improving our current line and are
working carefully to select a proper outcross for them.
