Rehomed Rats

Last updated: February 10th, 2005

These rats were all placed into loving, forever homes. These rats were lucky and fortunate to have been given a second, and sometimes third chance at a wonderful life that they greatly deserve. Many thanks to those who opened their hearts and homes to these wonderful rats and to those who have helped transport when it was so desperately needed.  Without your help we could not possibly continue to offer to foster needy rats who might otherwise not even have a chance. It is with your help that we can continue fostering them so that they don't have to go to shelters, or pet stores, or be euthanized. Many thanks to all of you from the very depths of our hearts.  The ratties thank you too.

Merry & Pippen
Merry & Pippen are from Indianapolis, IN.
Their Mom had some issues with the landlord and could only keep
her original group of rats. We didn't want to see Merry & Pippen end
up at the humane society so we decided to foster them.
After three months Merry & Pippen have found a forever
home -- in sunny Florida! They are looking forward to going
home soon.

Ratty in IL
Ratty has been through a lot in his first 6mos of life.
In his previous home the landlord became upset that the lady had a pet rat in her house.
So she set him loose in her backyard and he had been living there for nearly four months.
Lisa of Second Star Rat Rescue made several attempts to take him in and was finally able to
get ahold of the woman to do so. Ratty went through part of his tail being degloved due to rough
handling in his previous home but we are told that he is all healed up and ready for his new life
with a new mom or dad! Ratty is a "white dumbo" with an amazingly sweet temperament
considering all he's gone through.
He is currently located in Tinley Park, IL.

Oscar in IL
Oscar is a blue rex that found himself dumped at the humane society. His owner no longer had time for him and claimed that her cat kept terrorizing him. A wonderful lady in the area took him on to foster him so that he wouldn't have to remain in the noisy, chaotic shelter for months on end.
However he does need a loving, forever home to go to.
Won't you let this boy come home?

Thanks to Johnna for use of this photo.
Picture is of Oscar in his previous environment.

Indianapolis Girls
Aisha, Amelia, and Aurora
These three girls (now 4mos) were slated for euthanization at a shelter in Indy. Julia just could not let
that happen, and she contacted us. We are awaiting transport for these girls.
They will be available for adoption shortly.
From Julia..
These three young ladies are sooo cute! They are very small right now, but they'll grow into big beauties! They're all two months old. Aurora is cream/fawn colored, Aisha is agouti, and Amelia is agouti hooded. These three looooove their Wodent Wheel!

Home with Gail in IL and doing great!

Evanston Boys
New 9/19
Two young sweet males, about 3-4 months of age. Their current owner took them in from a friend but has a lot of pets on her plate right now so she feels that these two guys are getting lost in the shuffle. These boys went to a foster home but she decided to keep them for herself. Congratulations, boys!

Florida Gals

These girls were brought up to a rat show to be adopted out, only all the adopters backed out at the last minute.  I thought the girls might have a better chance at being adopted up here rather than down in Florida, so we took them and put them into quarantine.  All of these girls are about 11mos old and have been together their entire lives.

*Update 9/26*
These girls are looking forward to going to their forever homes. Three are headed down to Kentucky and the other two will be going up to Wisconsin later in October!

The AWL rescue of 2003
Over 200 rats were dropped off at the Animal Welfare League at one time in March of 2003 as a
result of a feeder-breeder getting out of business.
Many wonderful people went to help by adopting, fostering and transporting these pour souls.
Every last rat was taken from the AWL. Not one was left behind.
These are the rats that came through our hearts and left their footprints on our soul.
